This guide shows you how to delete user and workspace data within Userorbit, covering individual user deletions, GDPR right to erasure, workspace deletion, data retention policies, and bulk deletion requests.

Before You Begin

  • You must have access to the Userorbit Admin Panel with appropriate administrative permissions.
  • If performing deletions via API, ensure you have a valid API key.
  • Understand that data deletion is often irreversible; proceed with caution.

Steps

  1. Delete Individual Contacts/Users
    • Via Admin Panel: Navigate to the "Users" section, locate the specific user you wish to delete, and select the delete option associated with their profile.
    • Via API: Utilize the Userorbit API endpoint for user deletion, providing the unique user ID as required.
  2. Delete All Data for a Specific User (GDPR Right to Erasure)
    • Navigate to the specific user's profile within the Admin Panel.
    • Locate and select the "Delete All User Data" or "Right to Erasure" option.
    • Confirm the action when prompted, understanding that this will permanently remove all associated data for that user.
  3. Delete Your Entire Workspace and All Associated Data
    • Go to "Workspace Settings" or "Account Settings" within your Userorbit Admin Panel.
    • Find the "Delete Workspace" option.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions, which typically require confirmation and acknowledge the permanent loss of all data associated with the workspace.
  4. Understand Data Retention and Permanent Purge Timeline
    • Upon initial deletion (e.g., individual user or workspace), data is typically marked for soft deletion and enters a retention period (e.g., 30 days).
    • During this retention period, data might be recoverable in certain circumstances.
    • After the retention period concludes (e.g., 90 days from initial deletion), data is permanently purged from all Userorbit systems, including backups, and becomes unrecoverable.
  5. Request Bulk Data Deletion
    • For large-scale data deletion requests that are not covered by individual user or full workspace deletion, contact Userorbit Support.
    • Provide comprehensive details, including the scope of the deletion, specific user IDs or criteria, and any relevant date ranges to expedite the process.

Verify It Worked

To verify successful deletion:

  • For Individual User Deletion: Confirm the user no longer appears in the Userorbit Admin Panel's "Users" section.
  • For Workspace Deletion: Attempt to access the deleted workspace; access should be revoked, and data no longer available.
  • For Bulk Deletion Requests: Ensure you receive an acknowledgment from Userorbit Support and follow up on the status of your deletion request.
