Set up your workspace fundamentals

Workspace settings define the core identity and behavior of your Userorbit environment. These settings affect how your workspace appears to your team and, in some cases, to your customers. Configure them early to establish a solid foundation.

Accessing workspace settings

Navigate to Settings → General in the dashboard. You need Admin or Owner permissions to modify these settings.

Workspace name

Your workspace name identifies your team environment throughout the dashboard and in email notifications. To change it:

  1. Click the Workspace Name field.
  2. Enter the new name. This is typically your company or product name.
  3. Click Save.

The workspace name is visible to team members in the dashboard header and in notification emails. It does not appear in the customer-facing widget unless you configure it to.

Workspace URL

Your workspace URL is the subdomain used for your customer portal (e.g., yourcompany.userorbit.com). To update it:

  1. Click the URL field under workspace settings.
  2. Enter your preferred subdomain. It must be unique across all Userorbit workspaces.
  3. Click Save.

Changing your workspace URL updates the portal address immediately. Any existing links to the old URL will stop working, so update any shared bookmarks or documentation.

Timezone

The workspace timezone affects how dates and times are displayed in analytics dashboards and reports. Individual team members can override this with their personal timezone in profile settings.

  1. Select your timezone from the Timezone dropdown.
  2. Click Save.

Choose the timezone where the majority of your team operates, or your company headquarters timezone.

Language

Set the default language for the workspace. This affects the dashboard interface language for new team members who have not set a personal preference. Currently supported languages are displayed in the dropdown. Customer-facing content (widget and portal) language can be configured separately in the portal settings.

Default project settings

If your workspace uses multiple projects, you can configure defaults that apply to new projects:

  • Default feedback statuses — define the status workflow (e.g., Open, Under Review, Planned, In Progress, Complete) that new projects start with.
  • Default labels — set labels that are automatically available in new projects.
  • Default visibility — choose whether new projects are visible on the customer portal by default or private to your team.

Danger zone

At the bottom of the General settings page, you will find options that require extra caution:

  • Delete Workspace — permanently deletes the workspace, all feedback, announcements, and configuration. This action cannot be undone. Only the workspace Owner can perform this action, and it requires typing the workspace name to confirm.

Tips

  • Set your workspace name and URL before inviting customers to your portal, since changing them later can break existing links.
  • Use a timezone that aligns with your reporting cadence for the most intuitive analytics views.
  • Configure default project settings once so that new projects are consistent without manual setup each time.
