Announcements are the fastest way to share product updates with your users. This tutorial walks you through creating, writing, and publishing your very first announcement in Userorbit.
Step 1: Open the Announcements module
- Log in to your Userorbit workspace and select your project.
- Click Announcements in the left sidebar.
- Click the New Announcement button in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Write your announcement
You will see a rich text editor where you can compose your update. Fill in the following:
- Title — Give your announcement a clear, descriptive title. For example: "Introducing Dark Mode" or "Performance improvements are live."
- Body — Write the details of your update. The editor supports headings, bold, italic, lists, images, and embedded videos. Keep it concise — users appreciate updates they can scan quickly.
- Label — Optionally add a label like "New Feature," "Improvement," or "Bug Fix" to categorize your announcement. Labels help users filter and understand the type of update at a glance.
Writing tips
- Lead with the benefit to the user, not the technical details.
- Use bullet points for multiple changes.
- Include a screenshot or short video if the change is visual.
- Keep the tone conversational and on-brand.
Step 3: Configure delivery options
Before publishing, decide how you want to deliver the announcement:
- Widget — The announcement will appear in the widget feed inside your app. This is enabled by default.
- Email — Optionally send the announcement as an email to your subscribers. Toggle this on if the update is significant enough to warrant an email notification.
- Push notification — If configured, you can also trigger a push notification to bring users back to your app.
Step 4: Preview and publish
- Click Preview to see how your announcement will look in the widget and as an email.
- Review the content, formatting, and delivery settings.
- When everything looks good, click Publish.
Your announcement is now live. Users who open the widget will see it in their feed, and subscribers will receive it in their inbox if you enabled email delivery.
Step 5: Track engagement
After publishing, head to the announcement's detail page to see how it is performing. You can track:
- Total views and unique readers
- Email open rates and click-through rates
- Reactions from users
Use these insights to understand what types of updates resonate most with your audience.
Congratulations!
You just published your first product announcement. Your users now have a direct line to your latest updates — no more hoping they notice changes on their own. Keep the momentum going by publishing regularly. Even small updates show your users that you are actively improving the product they rely on.
