Lifecycle mappings associate an event in your Analytics project with a milestone such as a subscription starting, a revenue payment, or a trial ending. Property mappings tell Userorbit which event fields hold the relevant values.

Before creating a mapping, confirm that the event and its properties arrive in the intended project. A mapping does not install tracking or create missing events.

Create a mapping

  1. Open Analytics, select the project, and open Lifecycle.
  2. Select Add Mapping.
  3. Choose a Lifecycle Event Type.
  4. Under Event Name, select the tracked event that represents that milestone.
  5. Under Property Mappings (Optional), select Add for each field you need to map. Enter the exact event property name and choose its Target field.
  6. Select Create Mapping.

For example, if your tracked payment event includes a numeric property called payment_total, you can map that property to amount for a Revenue milestone. This is an example, not a built-in event or property.

The editor offers milestone types for Subscription Created, Subscription Cancelled, Subscription Upgraded, Subscription Downgraded, Revenue, Churn, Reactivation, Trial Started, and Trial Ended. The available target fields depend on the selected type.

Review and maintain mappings

The Lifecycle list shows each milestone, its event name, the number of mapped properties, and whether it is enabled.

  • Select a row to edit its event or properties, then select Update Mapping.
  • Use the row's switch to disable or enable the mapping.
  • Use the delete action and confirm to remove a mapping.

The creation menu omits milestone types that already have a mapping in the project. Edit the existing mapping when you need to change its event.

Check the source data

Inspect a known test event in Live Events and verify the property names and values against your mapping. Keep the event definition, currency, and amount units consistent across the data you intend to compare. A mapping cannot correct missing properties or inconsistent source values.

After changing a mapping, review any affected analysis with a known example before using its result for a business decision.
