This guide shows you how to efficiently manage your contact list in Userorbit by importing new contacts from various sources and exporting your existing contact data for external use.

Before You Begin

  • Access to the Userorbit Admin Panel.
  • A CSV file prepared for import (if importing from CSV).
  • Understanding of your contact data fields.

Steps

  1. Prepare Your CSV File — Ensure your CSV file includes required columns like email or userId. Other common fields include first_name, last_name, company, etc. The file should be UTF-8 encoded.
  2. Navigate to Import — In the Userorbit Admin Panel, go to the Contacts section and select "Import Contacts."
  3. Upload CSV — Choose your prepared CSV file for upload.
  4. Map Fields — Match the columns from your CSV file to the corresponding Userorbit contact properties. Required fields like email or userId must be mapped.
  5. Review and Import — Review the mapping and a sample of your data. Confirm the import process.
  6. Check for Integrations (for other tools) — Userorbit may offer direct integrations with other CRM or marketing tools. Consult the "Integrations" section of the Admin Panel or documentation for specific instructions. If direct integration is not available, export your contacts from the other tool into a CSV format and follow the previous "Importing Contacts from a CSV File" steps.
  7. Navigate to Export — In the Userorbit Admin Panel, go to the Contacts section and select "Export Contacts."
  8. Select Export Options — Choose which contact segments or filters you wish to apply for the export. You might also have options to select specific data fields to include.
  9. Generate and Download — Initiate the export. Userorbit will generate a CSV file containing your contact data, which you can then download.
  10. Understand Deduplication During Import — When importing contacts, Userorbit automatically deduplicates entries based on unique identifiers. The primary identifiers used for deduplication are userId and email. If an incoming contact's userId or email matches an existing contact, the existing contact's information will be updated with the new data from the import file. New contacts will be added.

Verify It Worked

After importing, navigate to your "Contacts" list in the Userorbit Admin Panel and search for a few contacts you expected to be imported or updated.

After exporting, open the downloaded CSV file to confirm that your contact data is present and correctly formatted.
