The feedback status workflow in Userorbit allows administrators to effectively manage user-submitted feedback, track its progress, and communicate updates back to users. Each status indicates a different stage in the feedback lifecycle, from initial submission to resolution or closure.

Properties

  • In ReviewDefault Status — New feedback submissions automatically enter this status. This stage is for triaging, initial assessment, and determining the next steps for the feedback.
  • PlannedWorkflow Status — Feedback that has been accepted and scheduled for future development or action. This indicates that the feedback is considered valuable and will be addressed.
  • In ProgressWorkflow Status — Feedback currently being actively worked on by the development or product team. This status provides transparency that the suggestion is under active consideration and implementation.
  • CompletedWorkflow Status — Feedback that has been fully addressed, implemented, or shipped as part of a product update. Users who submitted this feedback will be notified of its completion.
  • ClosedWorkflow Status — Feedback that will not be acted upon, either because it's a duplicate, out of scope, or not aligned with product goals. Users are informed that their feedback has been closed.

Examples

Changing Feedback Status

To change the status of a feedback item:

  1. Navigate to the "Feedback" section in the Userorbit Admin Panel.
  2. Select the specific feedback item you wish to update.
  3. Locate the status dropdown or button (e.g., labeled "Status: In Review").
  4. Click on the dropdown and choose the appropriate new status (e.g., "Planned", "In Progress", "Completed", "Closed").
  5. Confirm the change if prompted.

User Visibility of Status Changes

When a feedback item's status is changed, users who submitted or followed that feedback will see the updated status reflected in their user-facing portal or within the product interface where feedback is displayed. This provides transparency and keeps users informed about the progress of their suggestions.

Notes

  • Email Notifications on Status Change: Userorbit can be configured to send automatic email notifications to users when the status of their submitted feedback changes. For example, a user might receive an email when their feedback moves from "In Review" to "Planned" or "Completed". This feature significantly enhances user engagement and satisfaction.
  • Best Practices for Keeping Feedback Statuses Updated:
    • Regularly review new "In Review" feedback to triage and assign appropriate statuses promptly.
    • Ensure team members involved in development or product management are aware of their responsibility to update feedback statuses as work progresses.
    • Communicate clearly when closing feedback, providing a brief reason if possible, to manage user expectations.
    • Leverage integrations with project management tools to automate status updates where feasible.
  • Workflow Diagram Description:

A typical feedback workflow begins with a user submitting feedback (New Feedback). This automatically enters the In Review stage, where an administrator triages it. From "In Review", feedback can move to:

    • Planned: If accepted for future work.
    • Closed: If deemed not actionable (e.g., duplicate, out of scope).

From "Planned", feedback proceeds to In Progress once development begins. Upon completion, it moves to Completed. At any point, feedback can also be moved to Closed if priorities change or it's no longer relevant.
