Advanced targeting helps a pointer or tooltip step find the intended element when a simple selector is not reliable.

Configure targeting

  1. Edit a pointer or tooltip step and open Behaviour.
  2. Choose a tooltip side: left, right, top, bottom, or a corner variant.
  3. Open advanced targeting and configure an advanced selector or element text.
  4. For text targeting, choose exact, contains, or starts-with matching.
  5. When multiple elements match, choose best, first, last, or a specific element.
  6. Set strictness to legacy, loose, balanced, or strict, and choose automatic-first or manual-first precedence.
  7. Use Test target to review match and resolution status.

Progression and beacons

A step can progress from its primary button or from a click on the highlighted element. Beacon styles include badge, hotspot, and label with placement controls.

Limits

The builder does not expose independent pixel offsets or a separate alignment control. Use tooltip side, target rules, or a different step type when placement is unsuitable.
